- Mosh Pit Dev Blog #1: Characters. Introducing Termite and Thunder
Greetings, wargamers! Today, we are thrilled to introduce two characters from the upcoming Mosh Pit tabletop skirmish wargame: Termite and Thunder. These unique individuals bring their own stories, abilities, and playstyles to the battlefield, ensuring an unforgettable gaming experience. So, let's dive into the details and explore the fascinating backgrounds and features of these warriors! Termite - The Hive Soldier: Race: Human Termite's early life was far from ordinary. Raised as a hive soldier, he underwent a series of unique transformations that shaped him into more than just a human. The secret behind his incredible strength, fighting skills, and resilience lies in the enzyme known as "queen ambrosia." Along with other abducted children, Termite was fed this substance, elevating his abilities to astonishing heights. In terms of appearance, Termite stands at a medium height with a robust build. His entire body, including his face, is protected by heavy chitinous armor that gives him a fearsome presence on the battlefield. Crafted from the exoskeletons of giant insects, his sleek and smooth armor grants him exceptional protection. His sword, fashioned from a soldier's mandible, is a testament to his connection with the colony that still persists. Termite's arsenal also includes a large shield, further enhancing his defensive capabilities. His helmet features small visors, providing him with ample visibility while ensuring his safety. Inspired by the real-life murmillon gladiators of 105 BC, Termite was one of the first warriors to step foot in the arena, showcasing his tenacity and combat prowess. Thunder - The Hyena Hunter: Race: Human Thunder's life took a different path, driven by the pursuit of survival and the well-being of her family. Once a prosperous hunter, she found that game was becoming scarce near her settlement. In her prime, Thunder could navigate even the most challenging trails and wield her darts with unparalleled precision. However, fate intervened when she encountered a caravaner - the circus ringmaster. Faced with a difficult decision, Thunder sold her freedom dearly to secure a better future for her children. Her noble sacrifice and selflessness quickly earned her recognition among the audience, skyrocketing her popularity. This new chapter in her life propelled her into the spotlight, where she captivated the hearts of the people. Thunder's appearance is distinguished by her medium height and her striking dreadlocks. She bears a prosthetic leg, a reminder of the sacrifices she made to ensure her family's security. Through the combination of mental prowess and two-handed axe wielding, Thunder has become a master in both ranged and melee combat. Her numerous implants grant her exceptional versatility on the battlefield, a true force to be reckoned with. Inspired by the African huntress and Scandinavian warrior traditions, Thunder embodies the strength and determination. Her skill with the axe and her adaptability as a fighter make her an invaluable asset to any warband. - Crafting the Pirate Island: A Journey Through the 3D Modeling Process in BASE BOOST project
In the world of 3D models and wargame miniatures, the creation process is as fascinating as the final product. Today, we'll take you on a behind-the-scenes journey of developing one of the most intricate scenes for our project - BASE BOOST. This particular scene, designed in the captivating style of a "Pirate Island", is a testament to the meticulous attention to detail that goes into each of our creations. Conceptualizing the Pirate Island The first step in creating our Pirate Island scene was conceptualizing the design. Our team of talented artists and designers brainstormed ideas, drawing inspiration from classic pirate lore and popular culture. The goal was to create a scene that was not only visually stunning but also rich in narrative and detail. 3D Modeling: Bringing the Pirate Island to Life Once the concept was finalized, our 3D artists got to work. Using advanced 3D modeling software, they began to sculpt the island, piece by piece. From the rugged cliffs and sandy beaches to the pirate shipwreck and hidden treasure, every element was carefully crafted to bring the Pirate Island to life. Attention to Detail: The Hallmark of Wargame Miniatures What sets wargame miniatures apart is the incredible attention to detail. In the Pirate Island scene, this is evident in every corner. The weathered pirate ship, the intricate treasure chest, the tiny props - each detail is painstakingly created to add depth and realism to the scene. The Final Product: A Masterpiece of 3D Modeling After hours of designing, sculpting, and refining, the Pirate Island scene was beginning to take its final shape. The result we strive for is a stunning 3D model that captures the spirit of pirate lore and the artistry of wargame miniatures. It's a testament to the skill, passion, and creativity that goes into our BASE BOOST project. In the realm of 3D models and wargame miniatures, every project is a journey. From the initial concept to the final product, each step is a blend of artistry, technology, and storytelling. And at the heart of it all is a commitment to creating models and miniatures that captivate, inspire, and bring joy to gamers around the world. #wip #project #kickstarter #dakkadakka #pirates #fantasy #nature
- Dev Blog #1: Gangs Arena 2.0 - first look
Greetings, fellow gamers! We are excited to announce some major changes to Rock Head: Gangs Arena that we hope will enhance the gameplay experience and make it more immersive. In this blog post, we'll discuss the changes we've made to movement and attack mechanics, combat rules, unit attributes, and more. Rock Head: Gangs Arena is soon to be ported to Tabletop Simulator for everyone to give a try before printing - free of charge! As always, we welcome your feedback and suggestions for future improvements. Movement and Attack Mechanics One of the biggest changes we've made is to the movement and attack mechanics. We've abandoned tiles and tile movement in favor of inches and an open map. This allows for more realistic movement and positioning of units, as well as more granular control over attacks. Players can now move their units freely across the battlefield, rather than being restricted to a grid-like system. In addition, we've made changes to the attack mechanics. Energy barriers, Seals of Fury and other POI have been replaced with terrain that provides different cover bonuses. How likely characters are to get hit and killed is now determined by a combination of the attacker’s accuracy and the target’s Wound attribute. Line of sight is taken into account when calculating attacks. This adds a new layer of strategy to the game, as players must carefully position their units to take advantage of cover. Combat Rules To make combat more dynamic and unpredictable, we've made some changes to the combat rules. Players now have to pay special attention to Gang Leaders, who can provide bonuses to other gang units and help turn the tide of battle. Unit and Weapon Attributes We've also made changes to unit and weapon attributes. Weapons now have additional traits on top of range and accuracy stats, making it important for players to choose the right weapons for the job. Scenarios Finally, we've added scenarios to the game. These are pre-designed missions that provide players with specific objectives and challenges: namely, “Capture the Flag” and “Control Point” in addition to the default “Elimination” scenario. Each scenario has its own set of rules and victory conditions, making each game a unique and exciting experience. We believe that these changes will make our skirmish wargame more engaging, immersive, and fun to play. We hope you'll enjoy them as much as we do. In addition, we would like to announce a giveaway. Once the game is ported to Tabletop Simulator, you’ll have a chance to win a month of free Taiga Miniatures subscription and access to the closed beta of our upcoming skirmish wargame by sending us your battle reports. Until next time, happy gaming!

- Friday updates + Poll
Greetings, citizens of Rock Head! It is time for a grand reveal! No other than the leader of Doshnilov Group himself is on the big screen today. Despite being a reclusive individual, preferring to invest his time into orchestrating extensive research efforts and projects, Aydin apparently doesn’t shy away from good old gang violence. This year he is leading his men and women to the Arena - to bring back resounding victory or fresh corpses. Outrageous news! Through our investigation it was revealed that not only did Heavy Duty Cult play a role in the abduction of mutants, but they apparently use them in a pathetic mockery of our sacred, meritocratic gladiatorial traditions. Enslaved citizens of Rock Head are now providing cheap entertainment to living scrap metal on the other side of the wasteland. Rock Head officials are yet to comment on these findings, but two new pages are now up for you to see the evidence with your own eyes. We shall keep you updated on further developments. P.S. We are experimenting with the comic format and we would like to know your opinion on the matter of plot variability. Here is a poll: https://forms.gle/Wwv17fgTfP7ESYCo9 It is going to be up for 2 weeks and its results are going to influence the way we approach user interaction. Thank you in advance!

- Rock Head 24: Doshnilov Group
Meet Marou, a member of Doshnilov Group. Marou, could you give us a short recap of what your gang is up to, for those who live under a rock? We are from Stone Tower, like the recent Arena victors, Ravenclaws. We have access to state-of-the-art equipment of our own making and are the force behind most of Rock Head’s scientific advancements. Food on your table? Hydroponics we’ve pioneered. Affordable, reliable guns in your pawn shop? You’re welcome. That is all you need to know. Whether that’s all or not is for us to judge. How would you describe your relationship with Ravenclaws? Who’s the bigger fish in that pond? No one. It’s a mutually beneficial partnership. We represent interests of the same district, so infighting would put too much of a strain on our resources and turn both of our gangs into carrion for rivals to snack on. We are not friends per se - should we end up in the same bracket, we’ll scatter their guts across the Arena - but we reinforce each other and pool our supplies, especially in times of great turmoil. Speaking of which - what’s your beef with Tectonic Titans? There can be no “beef” between men and women who spearhead arms production and nudge Rock Head City towards a better future and literal cavemen that worship and hoard scrap metal they think will magically come back to life one day. Should Tectonics feel threatened by the fact that your leader has been seen accompanied by His Eminence’s bodyguards? Rumours have been circulating in regards to some grand project of yours. I cannot provide any commentary. But Tectonics should feel threatened by their very way of life. Sitting on a pile of pre-Blackout tech will only get them so far. Stagnation is a highway to extinction. Let’s just say that we are actively working towards solving the inevitable energy crisis, in His Eminence’s best interests. Can you then comment on those raids you’ve bankrolled? The neighbouring districts don’t seem to be looking forward to your visits. No one is allowed to feel entitled to the technology they have dug up in their backyard. It is the legacy of bygone era that should be used to pull us, as a collective whole, out of the hell that is the current year. We do not believe in simpletons’ right to use crystalline power cells to charge their flashlights. Ours is the rule of the strong and the knowledgeable. We have the wisdom to both operate this machinery and improve upon its blueprints. A final word for our viewers? As always, come to Stone Tower Junkyard to sell scrap. We pay generously, and you can be sure that whatever you bring will be turned into something useful.
